FOUNDED: 2002 HKFC10s: Debut HIGHLIGHTS: Japans 7s & 15s reigning champions

Tokyo Sankyu Phoenix were established in 2002
and is affiliated with the Shibua area of Tokyo,
Japan. The team is comprised of 43 members and compromised of both salaried workers and University students, whilst also hosting a number of invited overseas players. A number of the team’s players also represented Japan at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and 2021 Rugby World Cup. Tokyo Sankyu Phoenix also provides a number of players to overseas leagues, with two players competing in the Super W in Australia in 2023. The Director of Rugby is former Japan National Team representative Yohei Shinomiya.

Tokyo Sankyu Phoenix constantly strives to promote Womens’s Rugby in Japan by their on-field performances and off-field work. Last season during the team’s 20th Aniversary the side won National Championships in both 7’s and 15’s formats. Tokyo Sankyu Phoenix also has a strong community link, with social touch football events and school visits being performed by team members.
