Shanghai Rugby Football Club is delighted to return to HKFC 10s after 3 years of COVID
restrictions. The club, like many others, is in a rebuilding phase after the disruption of the last few years. SRFC is still the reigning champion of the All- China Cup (15s) and have been since 2016. They are also the holders of the annual Beijing 10s. This year the team is led by former Head Coach Simon Pang, current Head Coach for Shenzhen Pirates, who last led the SRFC side to the HKFC 10s Shield in 2017.
The squad is made up of players who have all played expat rugby in China, and some are now playing premiership rugby in Hong Kong. Tommy Peel,
Kevin Lee, Doug Brown, and Dan Corry are the sole survivors of the 2019 SRFC squad. This year’s squad is boosted by a contingence of Shenzhen Pirates players including big hitter Jermain Allen, former NFL player for Saints and Bears in the 2000s before he switched code to union and represented Qatar 15s. Pirates maverick Brock Smith (former Rotorua Boys High) will provide the spark for this year’s SRFC side. Ex SZ Pirates Josh Cooper, Brian Radcliff and Philip Slater are all now established Premiership players
in Hong Kong and they will add some much needed steel to the side.
